SCHOLARSHIPS

All students receiving scholarship dollars must be enrolled in the band course or provide evidence from advisor that course can not be taken for credit. Additionally, all students must be in compliance with student conduct codes for the University and not on probation, suspension or expulsion. Award eligibility determined by Director of Bands.

Director & Musicianship Award     

Candidates for this award must go through extensive screening; Grade point Average of 3.5 or higher; demonstrate excellent musicianship and proficiency on their main instrument; ability to play multiple instruments; dedicated in showmanship and performance aspect; must be able to sight read and have all major scales; ability to contribute actively to band program while maintaining superior academic status and participation in extracurricular activities; overall outstanding bandsmen and student; audition is required. 

Loyalty & Longevity Award     

Candidates for this award must have a Grade point Average of 3.0 or higher; candidates must have been a member of the Blue & Gold Marching Machine for at least 3 consecutive years with excellent attendance record and in compliance with band regulations; participation in both Marching and Spring ensembles is required during that time; positive attitude and contribution to the band program; demonstrate excellent musicianship and proficiency on their instrument; audition is required. 

Dedicated Service Award      

Candidates for this award must have a Grade point Average of 2.5 or higher; have given outstanding “above and beyond” service to the band program during Marching & Concert seasons, as well as the summer; demonstrate excellent musicianship and proficiency on their instrument, audition is required.

Freshman & General Award                  

Candidates for this award must have a Grade point Average of 2.0 or higher; demonstrate musicianship and proficiency on their instrument; audition is required. Candidates should also show dedication and loyalty to the Band program through evidence of attendance, participation in various band ensembles, and volunteer services to the band in addition to requirements of all band students.
